Electrostatic Furnace Filter

Allergies can be a nightmare when you suffer them permanently or even occasionally. An electrostatic furnace filter unit may be the solution to your problem. Even if you do not suffer from any allergies there is so much pollution in the air around us that an air filtering unit sounds like a good idea for home or office.

These air filters are used in hot air furnaces and air conditioning units too. They are for home or industrial use but they are not portable, they are installed in permanently installed heat or air conditioning units. Electrostatic furnace filters are installed in the air intakes instead of the blowing portions, by doing this the allergens and pollution is caught before it pollutes or enters the actual cooling or heating unit.

How do they work?

Air conditioning or heat units reuse the air inside your apartment or house. They bring new air in too but mostly they are exchanging the same air, cooling it and reheating it constantly. The new air that they pump inside is to replenish oxygen and to get rid of smells and other factors including allergens, dust and pollens caught in the furnace filter. It is impossible for them to keep changing the air because they would have to heat or cool outside air without stop or rest.

The filter elements can be bought with different gauges. This will depend on the type of pollutants you want to stop from entering your home. You have to decide what is more important to you because, if you buy one with too small holes the larger particles will bounce on the filter and enter anyway, if you buy one with too large holes the smaller particles will slip by and contaminate your room anyways.

So what do you need?

If what you or your family suffer from is regular allergies to pollen like flower pollens or grass or other plant particles; you should get an element that is designed for pollen sizes in general. An electrostatic furnace filter has different specialties and pollens are one of them. This does not mean that it will only catch pollens; no it will catch anything that is larger than pollen too. There are some elements that have been designed for general purposes; they will trap some things on the electrostatic filter and other stuff on the paper unit.

When buying the equipment you should make sure of two things. The first one of them is that the equipment is the right size for the area that you want to clean. An electrostatic furnace filter is designed to clean and purify the air in a room with a definite size. It is not the room that is measured; it is the volume of air inside the room. This is measured I cubic feet of air. The second factor is to be as specific as possible with regards to what it is you want to keep outside the room or your house. By being specific you can get the filter element that you need for your house.

Buy with care and once it is installed in your home or office be sure that it is properly taken care of and maintained. Keep it clean and in perfect working order and it will last for a long time providing you with healthy air to breath.
